Billion Dollar Sport is an independent football site built around one event above all others: the 2026 FIFA World Cup. We cover the squads, the data, and the stories behind the 48 nations heading to the United States, Canada and Mexico — from the favourites chasing the trophy to the first-timers who have waited a lifetime to get there.
What we’re trying to do
The aim is simple: coverage that’s actually worth your time. That means original analysis and data rather than recycled wire copy — squad breakdowns, the numbers that explain a storyline, and the human angles that make this the biggest World Cup in history. If a piece doesn’t add something you couldn’t get from a headline elsewhere, it doesn’t belong here.
Who’s behind it
Billion Dollar Sport is founded and edited by Manoel Vasudevan. Manoel grew up playing football for a local club in Chennai and has followed the game closely ever since. He runs the site as a dedicated fan rather than a former professional or accredited journalist — and treats that as a feature, not a flaw: every piece is approached with the curiosity of someone who genuinely loves the sport, and the discipline of someone who would rather get it right than get it first.
How we report
A few principles guide everything published here:
- Accuracy first. Facts, dates and figures are checked against primary and reputable sources — FIFA, official federations, and established outlets — before anything goes live. Where squads or details are still provisional, we say so plainly.
- Original value. We use news feeds and reporting to find stories, but we don’t republish them. We add our own framing, data and analysis.
- Transparency about tools. Our articles are researched and drafted with the assistance of AI tools and then edited by a human before publication. We disclose this on our pieces because we think you deserve to know how the work is made.
- Corrections, openly. We’re human — and so are our tools. If something’s wrong, tell us and we’ll fix it promptly and transparently.
